TAKING PART IN “ART EXPLOSION” 2018

PART OF THE PEACE INSTALLATION AND SOME INDIVIDUAL ARTWORKS EXHIBITED AT ART EXPLOSION 2018

Several of our Art students submitted their artworks to the Art Explosion 2018 Competition and Exhibition, which was held the last 20th April at the Kensington and Chelsea College, Chelsea Centre exhibition and conference hall space, in London. An exhibition of Artwork where young people from schools, community groups and youth centres across the borough are competing to win the title of Art Explosion Winner 2018. All the staff in the Art Department visited the exhibition. Understandably excited many of our students visited the exhibition with their families too. Well done to all the students involved.

A huge number of schools in the area participated with some high quality art pieces on display. As a result, the exhibition space at Kensington and Chelsea College was overflowing with incredible artworks. Clearly concerned with social affairs, there was a remembrance of the victims of the Greenfell Tower fire among the young artists. The winners will have their own work exhibited in the prestigious Saatchi Gallery.

Many thanks to Epic CIC and to Paula Mendonca for their hard work, and thank you to the K&C College for hosting the exhibition. Many thanks also to the Saatchi Gallery for sponsoring this school competition. It was very well organized, and it was a pleasure for us to be part of the event.

We now look forward to next year’s Art Explosion. Below you can see a sample of the high quality of the artwork exhibited by different schools in the borough.
